Saasaig IV44 is a small village situated on the north-west coast of Scotland. It has a population of just over 1,000, and is home to some stunning scenery, wildlife and outdoor activities. It has some fantastic beaches, parks and trails and is the ideal place for a romantic first date.
Saasaig offers some great parks and places for a romantic walk. The East Beach Park, for example, is a stunning stretch of beach with views of the Isle of Skye and other nearby islands. The cafe is situated on the village’s main street and serves up a wide selection of coffees, teas and other hot drinks, as well as some tasty homemade cakes and pastries. If you and your date are feeling particularly adventurous, you can also try their speciality ‘Aqua Float’ drinks – a deliciously refreshing mix of local whisky, soda water and honey.
Saasaig also has some great galleries, museums and exhibitions to visit on a date. The Neil Cowan Gallery, for example, showcases a fantastic selection of contemporary artwork from local and international artists – a great way to get to know each other’s tastes in art! The museum of the Saasaig Fishing Industry offers an insight into the history of the village, with displays detailing the different fishing methods used, as well as the traditional boat building in the area.
Saasaig is home to some great live music and entertainment. The village is home to a thriving music scene, with regular gigs at the local pubs and clubs. The Viva Regency, for example, is a popular venue for live music, with its large dance floor, great sound system and regular DJs playing a mix of old and new music. You can also head to the Amicus Club for a more relaxed evening of live folk music, or The Harbour Bar for a mix of acoustic music, local DJs and open mic nights.
Saasaig has some great pubs, bars and restaurants to visit for a first date drink or meal. The Harbour Bar serves up a great selection of local beers and ales, as well as classic pub grub. The Bluebell Inn, meanwhile, is a cosy pub that serves up traditional Scottish dishes such as haggis, neeps and tatties, as well as modern takes on pub favourites like fish and chips. And for something a bit more special, you can head to the Boathouse Restaurant – a waterside restaurant with a wide selection of seafood dishes and stunning views of the harbour.
Other than the above, there are plenty of other date ideas to try in Saasaig. The village has some great outdoor activities to enjoy, such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding in the harbour, or mountain biking in the nearby hills. You can also take a leisurely cruise around the local islands on a traditional sailing boat, or head off on a wildlife spotting walk to see the local seals, otters and seabirds. And, of course, there’s always the option of just sitting by the harbour, enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake while watching the boats come and go.
